Let the record show that the two-headed Knorr/Franz beast was hand-picked by Rutherford.

Where it all went wrong for the WT - JF Rutherford
by LoveUniHateExams ini was thinking a bit about this the other day.
ct russell, from what i remember about him, kinda seemed like a genuine, nice(ish) guy, although he had a few eccentric but harmless ideas.. during the russell era jws (actually bible students) could still celebrate christmas, worship in other churches if there was no kingdom hall available, and accept blood transfusions.. then after russell died, along came rutherford - a major league a-hole, for sure.. rutherford had plenty of eccentric ideas but at least some of them weren't/aren't harmless.
some have been long forgotten about - jesus depicted without a beard, the plan to rename the names of the week because names such as thursday (thor's day) is pagan, the articles about the 'dangers' of aluminium, etc.. one key contribution of rutherford which does a lot of harm is no blood transfusions, even in life-threatening situations.. another is shunning, something which never occurred under russell, or at least was much milder.. rutherford has a lot to answer for, i reckon ....

Investment departments in Bethel
by Mikejw ini was a bethelite in london for many years then got reassigned to the field and then went on brd from the start of chelmsford right upto covid.. during my years at the branch i was sometimes asked to be on a team who went to homes donated to the branch when some older one died.. this happenes an awful lot, everything is left to the branch in the will.
the unbelieving family is furious they didn’t get left anything and sometimes they tried to get their elderly relatives possessions and there was a legal battle .
but in the end a team of us would go and empty the property and another team would clean it up and put it on the market to sell it for the worldwide work.. all the possessions were sorted into trash or possibly valuable .

I don't think Peter B's story is sad at all. Karma can be a bitch, can it not? This man participated in the Borg's confiscation of wealth from the rightful heirs to the impostor "heirs of the Kingdom."
I also wonder if any of that ill-gotten wealth includes NAZI art from WW2, some of which found itself in the hands of allied soldiers who took it home with them. YES, there have been a few cases of missing Nazi art that was discovered in the family home after American GI Dad died.

"New Boy Life and Death at the World Headquarters of the Jehovah's Witnesses'

I just went to amazon and the kindle price I was shown is $8.88, down from $18.88.
So I bought the hardcopy paperback for $18.88 instead. I'm old and prefer hardcopy anyway.
But I am curious about the pricing on Kindle. Whazzup wit dat?

ANTI-DEPRESSANT medication for the last 60 years now proved to be based on poorly supported false theory
by Terry in"the chemical imbalance theory of depression is still put forward by professionals, and the serotonin theory, in particular, has formed the basis of a considerable research effort over the last few decades.
the general public widely believes that depression has been convincingly demonstrated to be the result of serotonin or other chemical abnormalities, and this belief shapes how people understand their moods, leading to a pessimistic outlook on the outcome of depression and negative expectancies about the possibility of self-regulation of mood""read: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m92v7hb0njm2mnvnu6nv0kpnkzloe-_k4crh_wphpti/edit?usp=sharing.

I've been taking antidepressants for about 40 years. I've tried a great many of them, and I blamed myself for feeling they were not helping me. As far as suicidal ideation, the joke goes that anyone who has NOT contemplated suicide has not considered all the options.
I'm on good terms with my Primary Care Physician, and I've asked him why all the medications that could make you feel better are illegal. I would love to try ketamine or psylocibin or mescaline or bufotoxin. One of my areas of ignorance is that I have no idea how to find a pusher. Talk about socially awkward!
There is hope... out here in the Pacific Northwest, restrictions on psychedelic substances are starting to lift, but I spoke to the head shrink at the hospital where I get my medical treatment and she told me that there was no chance that Virginia Mason Hospital would ever have a psychedelic study under their roof. How nice for her.

Do you believe that this life is all there is
by Fisherman inthe bible records resurrections and there is orher evidence besides that gives hope.
what do you think, is there enough evidence to believe in another life?.

Let's say Dr. Moody is correct and something continues. Why would this be just a human experience? Ravens, crows and other corvids demonstrate intelligence greater than my twin brother (yes, that IS a cheap shot, but if you knew him...) Elephants and other mammals are intelligent and have self-awareness, as do (IIRC) whales and their kin. Do these, our brethren, also have an afterlife? Let's not cling to Victorian ideas about the "crown of creation."

I, for one, certainly hope that this life is all there is, and this hope keeps me alive.

Vintage, there are MANY things I did while in thrall to the Watchtower that I now regret. I wonder, do you now regret the way you treated that young girl? Did her marriage endure?

You seem to be suggesting that there is some UNIVERSAL standard of morality that is superior to all others.GabeAthouse queried, "I assume your use of immoral is "immoral by WT standards". Or do you still feel that pre-marital sex, receiving a blood transfusion, smoking, homosexuality etc are "immoral"?"
I suggest that ALL "standards of morality" (even mine) are totally subjective and decided by the person or persons who deign to establish the "standard" for themselves or the organization they control. All these organizations have their own rituals of punishment for those who violate the standards of the personality or organization.
Sometimes these punishments are dished out to non-members of the group. For example, Muslims declare a fatwah on offenders, and the (old) LDS (Mormon) church had their "avenging angels". Both Muslims and (old) Mormons offer punishments including DEATH to those they feel violate the organization's so-called "standards."
The Watchtower only disciplines those who undergo the membership ritual (baptism) and thus agree to uphold The Watchtower stadards. It doesn't matter a whit whether the COSMIC LAW OF GALACTUS says smoking or pre-marital sex is wrong. The Watchtower says these things are wrong FOR THEIR MEMBERS, and The Watchtower disfellowships those who violate organizational rules of behavior, at a rate of about 1% each year.
So a person who confesses to having homosexual sex while smoking gets disfellowshipped, then decides that confessing to this behavior and then being judged is WRONG.
BOO FUCKIN' HOO.
